Have an old piece of furniture that you just can’t seem to replace? Maybe you can’t find the right piece? Maybe it has sentimental value? Maybe you are just stuck with it because someone gave it to you? No matter the reason, check out some of these great inspirations for those old pieces.
1. Paint or Refinish Furniture
This can make such a huge impact to how a room looks. Transform a piece that you already own or have a blast scouring local flea markets and second-hand stores for cheap buys. These pieces can be restored for pennies on the dollar. You can also pick up inexpensive pieces of accent furniture, like book shelves or tables, at a local big-box store (i.e. Target , K-Mart, Kohl’s, Wal Mart) and customize these however you like.
I really love a distressed or antiqued, shabby chic look so I include a lot of examples of this effect below in my gallery, but, on the flip side, re-staining or giving furniture an even, fresh coat of paint will breathe new life into your furniture pieces, making it look like you just bought them.
